I discussed that the best time to workout, when you want to lose weight, is first thing in the morning so it revs up your metabolism for the rest of the day.

What I forgot to add in was that you should not eat your first meal of the day yet, the workout should come first.

There is a very important, no, huge reason for this.  

Since you’ve been asleep for probably about eight hours your last meal is burned off, especially if you are smart and eat sparingly in the evening.   So, if you do your workout first thing in the morning you will be using fat as fuel.  You will burn fat and not any food you have eaten.  If you must have something, just drink water. Once the workout is finished have your first meal.

I learned this tip from a friend at the local gym.  He is an all natural bodybuilder with a cut build most guys wish they had.  I talked to some other similar built guys and this technique is used often.
