When I have a little bit of free time I enjoy a good PC Game. I’ve been a long time fan of the Quake series.
For those of you who have never played a Quake game Quake one started the whole thing and was one of my favorties. Even with it’s outdated graphics it’s still a fun game to play. In Quake you were transported from world to world and fought death knights, zombies and many other strange creatures.
Quake 2 Introduced the strogg. A biomechanical race of creatures that invades planet after planet turning humans into strogg or food.
Quake 3 was all online and was mostly team deathmatch and capture the flag type games. Although a good game it hasn’t stood the test of time as new multiplayer games came out with more innovations, such as team missions and the use of vehicles.
Quake Wars Enemy Territory builds on the innovations of the newest online multiplayer FPS Games.
The Strogg have invaded various places on the earth. You can play as either the Strogg or a Marine.
Both sides have tropps that act as medics, builders for defenses, bomp planters, and general assualt soldiers. You can pick which class you like and then you are presented with a different type of weapon and what missions you are responsible for.
If you’ve played Battlefield this game plays a lot like it. In fact a whole lot like it, to the point where I wonder if the same guys had a hand in both games.
It’s not really a bad thing. The game is still fun and different enough from battlefield.
If you like the Quake series this is worth getting. However battlefield already did this type of game somewhat better. So, if it’s a choice go for battlefield, unless you are tired of playing human soldiers.
The only thing Quake has that battlefield doesn’t is a bit more of a story behind their missions, which progress as you play instead of just capturing and holding points.
